I am the founding librarian at the Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy and Chattanooga Prep charter schools in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Before coming home to Chattanooga, my family and I had a five-year adventure, exploring a new part of the country when I was hired to be Director of Research at the Emma Willard School in beautiful Troy, New York. Prior to that, I was lucky enough to spend 6 years as Assistant Librarian at Girls Preparatory School.
I am a 2003 graduate of the University of Tennessee's School of Information Sciences and have also worked in the corporate and public library sector. In March of 2017, I began a two year term as President of the Association of Independent School Librarians. I am beyond proud to represent an organization that has provided me with such abundant opportunities for professional growth over the past ten years.
My professional interests include:
We, as librarians, truly do have the best jobs on campus. We get to interact with students yet we don't give grades, we get to "talk books" all day long, we provide research assistance when needed, we are given creative freedom, and in general, our job is to make others' lives easier! What a truly blessed place to be.
I hope that this portfolio speaks to my background, my work, and my accomplishments.
